The hundred year old corner building, visible from the church square, served until lately as a post office on the ground floor, while a family was living above.
For the conversion to a single house it quickly became clear that a new, logical and comfortable circulation and arrangement had to be found. Doing so, the different floors were openly connected and spaces were made more generous.
In order to create an outdoor space for the house that didn't have a garden, the pitched roof of the secondary volume was removed. Large sliding windows establish an open relation between the living room on the first floor and new patio.
Downstairs, the removal of a low quality extension is used in a similar way to direct the children's bedrooms towards a small quiet garden.
